I got my big break in 1990 when I became the weekly cartoonist for the Chester Chronicle. The Editor had offered the job to anyone in the design studio willing to do it for nothing, having just sacked the regular cartoonist to save costs. Not the most auspicious of starts but it meant that I could get my work seen by over 100,000 readers a week.
